JOHN CHUCKMAN KNEELING AND HOLDING A STICK BY THE LAGOON IN A PARK ON NORMAL AVE NEAR 79TH AUBURN PARK NEIGHBORHOOD CHICAGO - I HAD THE FONDEST MEMORIES OF THIS PLACE - I FISHED HERE A COUPLE OF TIMES WITH MY DAD AT AROUND 4 OR 5 AND IT WAS AROUND HERE HE TOLD ME I WAS GOING TO HAVE A LITTLE BROTHER - OF COURSE THERE WAS THE MERE FACT THAT MY PARENTS WERE TOGETHER THEN - IT LITERALLY TOOK YEARS TO BECOME USED TO THE IDEA OF NOT HAVING A FATHER, SOMETHING VERY UNUSUAL IN THE EARLY AND EVEN LATER 1950s - APART FROM ITS ECONOMIC DISADVANTAGES, THIS STATUS IN THE 1950s WAS MUCH FROWNED UPON (SO MUCH SO, FEW WOULD UNDERSTAND IT TODAY) AND I FELT IT KEENLY SOMETIMES - MY MOM TOO FELT IT AT PLACES LIKE CHURCH EVEN - THIS PICTURE WAS TAKEN OCT 12 1968 ON A ROUND OF GETTING PICTURES OF OLD PLACES ON A VISIT FROM TORONTO - A JOHN CHUCKMAN IMAGE
